the delightful Christmas Markets of Berlin

These markets are found everywhere: on main boulevards, small streets and even inside museums. Tourists and Berliners alike stroll through the various markets containing everything from German delicacies, traditional crafts and unique gift ideas...... oh and plenty of Gluhwein too!!!

the above stand sells a hot drink made of rum, sugar, wine and spices ..... most of them sell the Gluhwein which is scrumptious. A lot of the stands sell sausages in bread rolls, crepes, soups etc ..... then there are the stalls that sell jewelry, wooden toys and other home made items.

Surrounded by the glowing Enlightenment-era buildings of Berlin’s Gendarmenmarkt square, this market has become Berlin’s most notable trademark of the holiday season. In addition to all the traditional Christmas treats, such as gingerbread, sausages and mulled wine, the market also serves gourmet food beneath a heated tent. A craftsmanship tent allows visitors to watch woodcarvers, toymakers and other craftsman making their Christmas wares.

I will post more images of the Christmas Markets at a later date ....
there are just far too many!!!!!

the blog posting of the markets in the afternoon can be found HERE.

I am so envious. I would have had to take an empty suitcase with me just for the decorations I would have bought. I LOVE Christmas. Lucky you to be there.
