John and I did this amazing walk yesterday with the Raffles Museum Toddycats, volunteers of the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research, Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, NUS. In collaboration with the National Archives of Singapore, NHB.
We first saw it in the HABITAT NEWS and as we had recently moved into the area, we thought it would be interesting to explore further.
We assembled at University Cultural Centre at 7.00am on Sunday February 13. The walk was 6.55 klms and we saw many amazing things, not only was it about the Battle of Pasir Panjang, but we did learn a lot about the history of the area, the flora, the fauna and the architecture.
I will blog about most of it over the coming week, but this post is about the small things I noticed on the walk yesterday. We all notice the bigger picture, but too many people miss out on seeing the smaller things of life.
It's the little things in life
I cherish most
One flower can stand out
In a garden of hundreds
I cherish most
One flower can stand out
In a garden of hundreds
a bug and a flower
a brand new leaf
an old bucket from long ago
ants carrying a beetle
or a sign warning us of the monkeys!
or the flower against the backdrop of the Singapore Straits
or the tiniest of flowers hiding
but you still need to keep an eye on what is
happening above too!
and looking down I see a marker for my favorite tree!
but looking up I did see, the wonderful and
majestic eucalyptus tree!
and looking down again
more flowers hiding in the greenery
but to look across instead of hurrying by
we can see the beautiful sunrise
across Singapore!
How many things are we missing as we rush through life and ignoring those that are around us?
Enjoy life NOW
Enjoy life NOW
it has an expiry date

Beautiful photos...enjoyed all of them...Don told me about the Raffles Hotel when he was in Singapore, way back in the 1980s. I hadn't heard the name mentioned again until reading it in your post! Look forward to seeing more of your walk!
