Wishing you all very Happy Deepavali!

Diwali is Indian festival extensively celebrated by Hindus in India. The 2010 Diwali or Deepavali start from 5th of November 2010.

This festivity and parties are set by the Hindu youths where they do dance, exchange gifts, and greeting cards. Deepavali will be celebrated all over world including Singapore.

Diwali, or Deepawali, factually means rows of diyas (clay lamps). This festival is important for its association with the uplifting of religious darkness in the souls of people. It also marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year and on this day Lord Ganesha is worshiped.

It is well thought-out the right time for shopping, starting new undertaking, business deals and house warming. On this day, doorways are lit and decorated with Rangoli or traditional patterns to greeting the Hindu goddess of wealth, Lakshmi.

The most important portion of this festival is to light clay- oil lamps in homes. Flaming of crackers too is considered important during the five day festival.

People trip their friends and relatives during this festival and also invite everybody in their homes and offer them special types of delicacies which are the specialty of Diwali.
