the following blog post:
and six months later on
Sunday April 3 2011
we were there!
it was one of our favorite ports of call on the cruise,
though we also think that of Italy!
Marmaris is situated in a bay along a beautiful sandy beach, surrounded by mountains and pine tree's.
Marmaris was originally used as a trading port for merchants and was also used as a route from Anatolia, Rhodes and Egypt. The city is also famous for its artistic and cultural centre.
The town of Marmaris is located at the meeting place of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, on the world's largest natural harbour, surrounded by pine-clad hills.
Situated in southwest Turkey, in the province of Mugla, Marmaris is one of Turkey's biggest tourist resorts. To the north lies the Gulf of Gokova, to the south the Mediterranean. On the west is Datca peninsula and to the east Koycegiz lake; all year round Marmaris is surrounded by blue and green.
The hills running in to the sea and the beautiful bays make Marmaris very special.
we were at the exit and ready to disembark by 7.00am which is when the Splendida had arrived in port. We had a big day planned and we needed to start as soon we possibly could.
yes, you can see I loved Marmaris!!
will be uploading a few blog posts
over the next week of our visit to Turkey.
