our visit to see Festive Walk at Sentosa

Today we decided to spend some time at Sentosa - a playground for all those that live in Singapore - we have a yearly pass and go as often as we can manage. When we go to Sentosa we usually try and stay around the one area and then on our next visit, explore another part of the island.

Today was the day to alight from the monorail at Waterfront Station after passing through this 'tunnel' that has been added since our last visit.

by alighting at WaterFront Station we are able to see much of the new RESORTS WORLD SENTOSA. The soft launch of the first four hotels took place on January 20, 2010, with the FestiveWalk on February 1. No date has yet been announced for the rest of the complex. But our goal for today was to see the Festive Walk and as much of the new hotels as we could.

Resorts World Sentosa is an integrated resort in development stages on the island of Sentosa, off the southern coast of Singapore. The key attractions include one of Singapore's two casinos, a Universal Studios theme park and the world's largest oceanarium. The S$6.59 billion (US$4.93 billion) integrated resort is developed by Genting International, the overseas investment arm of the Genting Group. The mammoth resort occupies over 49 hectares (121 acres) of land and, when fully open, will employ more than 10,000 people directly.

There is still much to be done in the garden area's, but we managed to still see more then we expected to. The above tree looks to me like some form of Banksia, though have never seen one quite like this before. As we walked from the station we can see many workmen in the gardens still working.

There were workmen everywhere doing something, be it cleaning, digging, scrubbing, polishing or just tidying, but these gentlemen were cleaning the copper water display and they were knee deep in the water WITH BOOTS ON!

all of this is part of the FestiveWalk, which is described as "The perfect venue for you to dine, shop, club hop and have a smashing good time".

FestiveWalk is also the place to buy your Universal Studios Singapore tickets, take home must-have Resorts World souvenirs and experience some of the world's top shopping and dining brands making their debut in ASia.

Best of all, this exciting strip is open 24/7 and comes alive at night with roving acts and two highly-anticipated public attractions, the Crane Dance and the Light and Sound Extravaganza!

Believe me, if you are in Singapore, then this needs to be seen to be believed!

Here are a few images that I managed to take as we wandered around this part of Resorts World Singapore that will show you some of the architecture, water features, gardens and other amazing structures:

There are many aspects to this Resorts World Sentosa, and each one is amazing in itself. There are - for example - six hotels and each with it's own different experience, layout, design and theme.

Not forgetting the Casino which has been waiting to obtain the gambling licence before opening which came through today, so no doubt another 'official opening' will be taking place soon!

More blog posting will be uploaded over the next few days of what we saw today.
