Titanic Sails into Singapore

Attention!

Attention!

The RMS Titanic has arrived in Singapore!

The Titanic is now docked at The ArtScience Museum. You are able to go on board this magnificent ship once you have paid your 'fare' and have your boarding pass.  Do come comfortably dressed as you will be wandering the decks for approximately two hours as there is much to see and to experience.

This exhibition will bring you back into the days long gone, the days at sea where you can experience the coldness of the night in the North Atlantic ocean, or sit in comfort on the port side drinking hot chocolate. Stroll through to the Verandah Cafe and chat with fellow passengers while listening to the noises of the ship and feel the ocean breeze.

You can wander deep down into the boiler room and feel the rumbling of the engines or walk along the deck to the dining room via the magnificent grand staircase, perhaps check out the first class cabin on the way?

Remember you are here to experience the RMS Titanic and what it would have been like to be on board that fateful night when an iceberg loomed out of the calm night on 14 April 1912. Then as you enter the Iceberg Gallery you can actually touch a real sheet of ice and experience the freezing waters of the North Atlantic!

In 1912 when the RMS Titanic went down on its maiden voyage, what was Singapore like then? This new addition to the Exhibition is dedicated to local connections where visitors can learn how the sinking of this great ship resonated in Singapore.

Did you know that apart from carrying the rich and famous between Europe and the United States, Titanic was also built to carry British and US Mail?  Hence the full name of the ship. RMS or Royal Mail Steamer Titanic. You can try your hand at writing a letter too,  a real letter, where you actually write on paper, it is sealed and then posted!

To date, RMS Titanic, Inc. has recovered more than 5,500 objects from the wreck site. Some of them are as follows:

Third class soup bowl ... this soup bowl was part of the Third Class Dining Room service.

Third-class dishware carried the White Star Line's logo, as did almost every other serving dish and utensil on the ship. Like all china onboard, the name Titanic never appeared,
allowing its use on other White Star Line ships, if necessary.

(the above are a childs marbles)
( the above are two Australian coins and a sovereign from the UK.)

There are more experiences for you to participate in at this exhibition, but we don't want to spoil any of the surprises, so you need to go and see for yourself!

the two previous blog posts on the Titanic Exhibition are seen here:

The exhibition marks the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's sailing
in April next year  and is one exhibition not to be missed.

We would like to thank Wendy Lim, Marina Bay Sands and the ArtScience Museum for providing us with an afternoon of enjoyment at this amazing Exhibition.
