Denali National Park

continuing on our journey thru Alaska, and now at Denali National Park, north of Talkeetna. We arrived in Denali - by train - at 4.00pm on Thursday July 3 2008.

We stayed at the Denali River Cabins for two nights. Lovely place to stay......but so noisy!!!! Lots of inconsiderate travelers coming and going all night long did not make for a pleasant stay.

Because of the (very) long daylight hours, I can only assume that people must have thought it was about 6.00pm at night, when in fact it was like 1.00am.... anyway, we got by. But if anyone is ever thinking of staying there .... ask for a quiet room!!

On Friday July 4 2008, we had to be up by 5.00am to take the full day tour into the National Park, a very long day but every minute was worth it. Such magnificent scenery all the way and so many animals in their natural habitat.

We even managed to take a photo from the window of the bus, as seen here:
But we were not in the bus all the time, as we had many stops for "photo opportunities" as seen below .......

one of the four grizzly bears we saw.....
and then me outside the cabin we stayed in.......

after Denali we cont'd on our way by train to Fairbanks ........

(next posting will be on our way to Fairbanks by Alaska Railroad)
