We left Whitehorse on Saturday July 12 2008 and on our way to Skagway. The first part of the journey was by bus as far as Fraser (see previous post) at Fraser we picked up the White Pass Rail to continue on our journey into Skagway, Alaska .....

We would be out side the train to take the photos and then back in to thaw out..... but, regardless of the cold, it really was a fabulous train trip.

We stayed at the Westmark Inn which was very comfortable, they had the best showers in all Alaska ...... our only complaint there was that it catered to many of the tourist coaches and the guests were very noisy in the early hours of the morning when it was time for them to leave..... like 5.30am!!!
Other than the inconsiderate guests, the reception staff were very helpful and pleasant at all times.
Sunday July 13 was a 'free day' for us, so we took the opportunity to wander around, take a few photos, get to know this lovely little town and buy some souvenirs for our family and friends.
It was such a lovely day, not many people around, we had lunch at the Red Onion, and shared the town with just a few tourists ... it was perfect ......
next posting: Skagway: Monday is BIG SHIP DAY!!!
