After disembarking the MSC Splendida at 8.30am we boarded our tour bus to take us on the tour called "A Taste of Tenerife" ..... it was to be for 'about 5 hours', though ended up being longer and was well worth it.
But it is quite fitting that I blog - today Friday April 22 2011, being Good Friday - on the Christian Calender as our first stop on this tour was at the Cristo de La Laguna or in English:
Holy Christ of La Laguna
The Holy Christ of La Laguna is a figure Catholic of great historical, artistic and cultural representing the image of Jesus of Nazareth was crucified.
It is located in San Cristobal de La Laguna , a municipality and city of the island of Tenerife.
above is the exterior of the Shrine of Cristo de La Laguna.
This image of Cristo de La Laguna procession each year at Easter in San Cristobal de La Laguna , at this time the image procession on a cross of wood .
The Good Friday procession at dawn known as "The Gathering" the Christ out of his Real Sanctuary and is in the street to La Dolorosa , San Juan and La Magdalena , and then go together to the cathedral .
There remain a few hours of penitence. Afternoon and leave the cathedral and the Magna Procession Christ returns to his sanctuary.
and a photo of John and myself sitting on one of the stone benches that obviously has been in the courtyard for many years.
there are no photos of the inside of the Shrine of Cristo de La Laguna ..... we were able to take photos, but there were too many people and I just wanted to see it with my own eyes rather than thru the lens. Even though I have none here, I can remember how I felt and what I saw while there ..... and it was quite special.
