NOSTALGIA + +

We have only  lived in Singapore for a little over four and half years ... not nearly long enough to know the names of all the authentic Singapore foods ... all I know is that we enjoy 'most' of them!!
Last week I was lucky enough to be invited along to 'sample' some of the delicious foods that are available at the Singapore Food Trail and to wander around the stalls. A few of us were there to experience the Teochew Opera performance as well as to savour the delights that were on offer.

So take a step back to Singapore in the 1960's and enjoy this special dining experience!

Singapore's first 1960s-themed food street, the Singapore Food Trail, is 16,000 square-feet  of 'foodie heaven'  serving popular local foods that was officially opened in February this year - 2011.

The Singapore Food Trail features 17 heritage hawkers, which include many established names. Many of them have been in the business for 30 or more years.  The hawkers who serve food here at the Trail were all specially hand-picked. The oldest stall at the Singapore Food Trail is High Street Tai Wah Pork  Noodle which started in 1939 and was originally located along the Singapore River.  The Food Trail stands out with its authentic decor and design that bring out a realistic 1960s atmosphere in the heart of the city. This is not just for the local population, but for everyone.... we should also encourage tourists to visit this area and to experience a little of Singapore in the 60's!

Singapore Food Trail is a unique 1960s themed food street in Singapore and an exciting dining attraction, which will bring back fond memories of the good old days.
The Singapore Food Trail is a MUST VISIT and is open from 10.30am to 10.30pm from Sunday to Thursday, and from 10.30am to 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday.

am so happy that I had the opportunity to experience  the Teochew Opera Performance along with dinner at the Singapore Food Trail ..... for those that have not visited the "trail" put it on your list of things to do next weekend and certainly when you have visitors in town ..... its one of those rare places that will show you what Singapore was like a few years ago!

I know that I will be returning there soon with a few of my friends.

Many thanks to the Singapore Food Trail, Chloe and Jonathan from Select Group Limited,  Juliana, Belinda, the URA, Marina Bay Singapore and fellow bloggers too - of course!

Thank you to everyone that made this evening so special.

Wonderful photos of the Singapore Food Trail! I was about to drool when I saw the photos of the food!

The Teochew Opera performance in some ways stole quite a bit of the show!

Nice post! We don't visit this area very often and I didn't know about this place. Love the title, "++"... very clever. :)

Thanks for the comments in my blog. I do visit your blog for information on how to go to Johor too. :) Did not know it is so smooth sailing now to go to Johor via the first link and now that the new Johor custom complex is so much bigger and spacious unlike the older custom complex where we have to queue body to body contact lol. I have intended to go to food trail too but my girlfriends have problem settling the date hahaha.
